The cost of a marble backsplash is also a pro in most cases. Although there are rarer options that cost a lot, the more common types are accessible. Some of the most important cons related to marble backsplashes and countertops in general include the fact that marble scratches and stains easily. Nevertheless, it can be easily cleaned with warm water and dish soap.
The kitchen doesn’t have to be your favorite room in the house for you to want it to look pretty and inviting. Even though this is mainly a utilitarian, there are plenty of ways in which you can give it a welcoming and beautiful look. One perfectly acceptable example is the backsplash. A mosaic kitchen backsplash, for example, will always stand out.
In the kitchen, marble is often used on countertops and backsplashes. A marble backsplash can look very elegant and stylish but, given the characteristics of the material, requires constant maintenance. Still, cleaning a marble backsplash is easy. Just use warm water and dish soap and, for stubborn stains, a mixture of baking soda and water. Marble backsplashes and countertop need to be sealed regularly and this can either be done by a professional or can be treated as a DIY project.
Do you really need a one? Not really. But you’ll inevitably get that wall dirty while cooking or washing dishes, and an easy-to-clean surface can make messes easier to wipe up, especially if your stove doesn’t have a one built in. And almost any type of material can work–from bamboo to corkboard–as long as it’s properly sealed.
Ever considered simply painting your backsplash without actually using anything else? You can pretty much create any pattern and design you want. In this case, a herringbone pattern was chosen. To make something similar, you need a lot of tape. Decide on a size for your painted tiles. Then make tiny pencil marks on the wall to know where the grout lines should go. After that, make the horizontal lines and start taping and painting. It’s tricky and you need lots of spare time for a project like this but it’s also really original.
This second project is another easy to do project for a kitchen wall. The awesome idea uses wine corks standing on their ends to make a beautiful contemporary and natural-looking warm toned backsplash. There are many ways to make a DIY backsplash from wine corks, but the simplest one is to glue the corks on a board and then attach the board to your kitchen wall.
