Kitchen Backsplash May 11, 2017. Ceramic Tile, Given the numerous shapes, sizes and colors available, ceramic tile is probably the most versatile option (it’s also proven to be timeless). There’s plenty of room to play with patterns while still maintaining clean lines: stack tiles in columns, stagger them, or lay them at an angle. Most tile requires minimal maintenance, just be sure to seal the grout so it doesn’t get stained or absorb water.
Design May 12, 2017. Of course, if you love the look of a white kitchen but wanted to stray juuuust a little from the trending all-white kitchen, there are ways to do that with subtle color. Maintain the white feel with unadorned windows, marble countertop and backsplash, and a white farmhouse sink. Throw a pale grey-green color onto the cabinets, then accent with metallic hardware, fixtures, and accessories. The result is a kitchen that feels almost ethereal…without being completely white.

Closed cabinets offer a far safer storage option that lets you tuck away the mess and makes maintenance a lot easier. But adding open shelves to the kitchen island is a completely different proposition that unravels an entirely new world of possibilities. While the traditional approach to kitchen island design has always relied on closed cabinets, drawers and a few appliances being tucked away underneath, open shelving brings a refreshing new look to the classic island.
